Gianni Versace's Mansion Goes on Sale for $125 Million

The late Gianni Versace's mansion located at South Beach in Miami has been put on the market for a staggering $125million. The mansion has ten bedrooms and eleven bathrooms and because it is located at South Beach it commands a higher asking price as it is one of the most exclusive strips on Miami Beach. The telecom magnate Peter Loftin now owns it and he has decided that the time is right to sell. The mansion, known as Casa Casuarina, was bought by Loftin in 2000 and he decided to turn it into a boutique hotel and a private club around three years ago.

The high asking price may be due to the once gold-lined swimming pool that Versace himself enjoyed whilst he owned the mansion. There are also murals and frescoes painted on the walls and ceilings that add to the asking price of the manions. The Wall Street Journal has referred to the property as a "trophy property". Versace bought the property in 1992 and still paid $10million for the property even then. Apparently Versace walked past the mansion and instantly fell in love with the mansion and decided that he had to own it. The mansion was originally built in the 1930's by Alden Freeman, the architect, and had fallen into slight disrepair. Versace then invested $33million into restoring the mansion to its former glory. Unknown to many Gianni was once an architect himself and used his know-how to extend the mansion a further 6,100sq ft adding a south wing to the property as well as the well-known 54ft 24 karat gold lined swimming pool. The mansion is covered in individual mosaic tiles with thousands of them covering the courtyard as well the ceilings and walls inside the mansion.

Gianni Versace was very happy when he lived at the mansion until he was brutally assassinated in June 1997 on the steps of the house. His sister Donatella then had the job of selling off various assets belonging to her brother, the mansion being one of them. Due to the quick sale of the mansion Peter Loftin grabbed a bargain when he bought the mansion for $20million. Loftin lived at the address for a number of years after the sale went through and then decided to turn it into a boutique hotel. The mansion is no longer known as Casa Casuarina but Villa by Barton G after the man who re-styled the mansion throughout. The website for the hotel คอนโดมือสอง กรุงเทพ describes the mansion's style as taking up "style where fashion designer Gianni Versace left off".

The mansion measures 23,400 sq ft in size and has a garage big enough to fit twelve cars. There is also a guesthouse in the one acre of grounds. Guests who have previously stayed at the hotel have enjoyed relaxing by the pool after visiting the attractions nearby that Miami has to offer. Miami is witnessing property prices hitting a high that have never been seen before and due to the worldwide reputation of the mansion's previous owner this "trophy house" may well reach it's $125million asking price quite easily.
